Damn it!!...she was looking so good all week in Cannes.....and just when it appeared that Sharon Stone might be on the comeback trail, she puts her damn foot her her mouth. Everyone knows its a dangerous combination...Cannes, champagne, a pretty dress, the red carpet and a MICROPHONE!!....Sharon made the mistake of expressing her personal views with a Hong Kong news crew about the earthquake in China, ...and of course it had to be on a slow news holiday weekend!

Now the world is attacking her and China is completely villanizing her.

Tonights final performance is the "Battle of the Davids."

I think this year its strictly going to come down to who is the most popular. They both have good voices and neither one has an outstanding stage presence.

So strictly for the entertainment factor, im going to pick David Archuleta. He is the younger of the two and I swear if they announce his name tomorrow night as the new American Idol, he is going to loose his crazy little mind...literally.....I predict he will cry, piss his pants and pass out......Now thats good TV!!

Japan's ubiquitous ambassador of cute — has built up an impressive resume over the years. Global marketing phenom. Fashion diva. Pop culture icon. Now the moonfaced feline can add "government envoy" to the list. The tourism ministry on Monday named Hello Kitty as its choice to represent the country in China and Hong Kong, two places where she is insanely popular among kids and young women .

This is the first time Japan has named a fictional character as its tourism ambassador.

The Associated Press notes that "according to her official profile from Sanrio, Hello Kitty lives with her family in London. It does not mention how often she visits Japan."

The Eurovision 2008 Song Writing Contest has begun and this year 43 countries have submitted original songs. The competiton started on May 10th in this years host country Belgrade, Serbia. The finals take place on May24th.

The Eurovision Song Contest is one of the longest running television shows in the world. It was on the 24th of May, 1956, that Europe saw the first ever Eurovision Song Contest. After 52 runnings, the contest is one of the most loved tradions in European television. Millions and millions of people from all over Europe vote.

Earthquake in China....

This photo breaks my heart.

Parents at a makeshift morgue on Wednesday in Juyuan, China, held the body of their child, killed in Monday’s earthquake.

Due to the governments policies on controlling overpopulation, most of China consists of single child families.

The earthquakes devastation is so severe that the government issued a rare public appeal Thursday for rescue equipment as it struggled to cope with the disaster.

Hopefully, no one will be forgotten and everyone around the world will receive the help they need.

CALIFORNIA LEGALIZES GAY MARRIAGE!!!

California's supreme court ruled that a ban on gay marriage was unlawful Thursday, effectively leaving same-sex couples in America's most populous state free to tie the knot in a landmark ruling.

In an opinion that analysts say could have nationwide implications for the issue, the seven-member panel voted 4-3 in favor of plaintiffs who argued that restricting marriage to men and women was discriminatory."... limiting the designation of marriage to a union 'between a man and a woman' is unconstitutional and must be stricken from the statute," California Chief Justice Ron George said in the written opinion.

BANKSY - CANS FESTIVAL....

This weekend, a south London tunnel has been turned into a giant exhibition space by phantom graffiti artist Banksy.
Graffiti impresario Banksy and airbrush-wielding guerrilla artists blanketed the walls of an abandoned London tunnel with offbeat murals as part of a three-day stencil-art street party this weekend.
Banksy marshaled more than three dozen international artists for what he’s calling the “Cans Festival” — and is encouraging visitors to contribute their own graffiti starting Saturday.
“I’m hoping we can transform a dark forgotten filth pit into an oasis of beautiful art — in a dark forgotten filth pit,” Banksy was quoted as saying in the Times of London, which carried a preview of the exhibition Friday.
Murals in the Bristol artist's famous stencil style appear with work by 29 other artists in a half-mile stretch of the tunnel in Leake Street, Waterloo.

It's Allergy Season in NYC ....

Umm Kulthoum...

You may never have heard of Umm Kulthoum but she's famous in the Arab world. In her day she was at least as popular as Marie Callas. She died over three decades ago and one of her prized jewels was just auctioned off for $1.38 million in Dubai by Christie's. The nine-strand necklace is made up of 1,888 pearls and brought in more than 10 times its $120,000 estimate. The reason for the high price is the immense sentimental value, it was her favorite piece, given to her by the late president of the United Arab Emirates, Sheik Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The necklace had remained in Kulthoum's family and was auctioned by her descendants.

Madonna Last Night...

ok ok......I promise, I wont mention Madonna again this week....lol....but I just wanted to do a followup blog about her performance last night at the Roseland.

I watched it on MSN.com and it was pretty good....the high points were the artful hightech stage, her entrance and her incredible dance energy.

She performed 6 songs for a total of 38 minutes!.....I wonder how the people who stood in line for 24 hours felt about the short set?? I have a feeling they loved it.

Madonna was fierce and really showed she is completely on top of her game and ready to conquer the world once again.
