Matthew Mitcham - Diving Gold....
The only openly gay Beijing Olympic athlete, Matthew Mitcham of Australia won the gold medal in the Men's 10m Platform Final diving. His performance stunned the diving world with his win over the heavy favorites, China. He scored 5 perfect 10's in his final dive!

Barack Obama announced his choice for Vice President by text message last night. Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware received the nod. This is a very safe and wise choice for Barack. If elected president, Biden's knowledge of foreign relations will certainly help Barack on the world stage. Biden is the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, bringing years of experience that could help counter GOP arguments that an Obama administration would be inexperienced on foreign policy.

Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones - R.I.P.
Democratic U.S. Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones, the first black woman to represent Ohio in Congress and a strong critic of the Iraq war, died today of a brain hemorrhage.

Matthias Steiner - Heart of Gold....
Matthias Steiner of Germany holds the gold medal he's dedicating to his late wife Susann, who died in a car accident in 2007, after winning the men's over 105 kg Olympic weightlifting.
