GEORGE MICHAEL - MSG - 07/21/08

BRAVO!!!!

Last nights George Michael concert at Madison Square Garden was simply one word....INCREDIBLE!!.....5 STARS!!

George was in great form last night. His voice was absolutley beautiful. He said he was so nervous about returning to MSG after 16years, that he only slept three hours. Well, IT DIDNT SHOW........he was genuine, passionate, personable and full of STAR POWER. I usually dont enjoy going down memory lane in concert song, but this was the way to do it. His song list was old and new, yet FRESH and CREATIVE. I loved it from beginning to end. At the end, George , alone on the stage, took a proper bow. What he got in return was THUNDEROUS applause...well deserved for a man whos honesty and supreme talent ripped the roof of the damn place!

BUT GEORGE WASNT ALONE LAST NIGHT....this show was VISUALLY THE BEST STAGING I HAVE EVER SEEN....The set was designed by Willie Williams..I am posting some of the show below and in the first video watch Georges entrance......one of the best entrances EVER!

The set was one amazing changing video screen......from floor to ceiling and rolling right over the edge of the stage. This set was completely a state of the art creation and unforgettable in every way.

Frank Calloway - 112 year old Folk Artist....

Frank Calloway laid bricks and stirred mortar by hand in his youth.
At 112 years old, he grasps crayons and fine-point pens to sketch purple and red townhouses with orange curtains.
Mr. Calloway, draws panoramas of folk art on 18-foot swaths of butcher paper.
His drawings chronicle his work and being a black man in Montgomery County during the racially oppressive era of Jim Crow.
A left-hander, Calloway likes to sketch in the early morning light. Calloway, uses a Bic pen against a worn out Bible as a guide rule.
He said he has lived a long life, in part, by being careful.

Mamma Mia....

My good friend Rafael and I went to see Mamma Mia last night...RUN to go see this completely entertaining movie......I LOVED EVERY MOMENT!!.. I laughed out loud, applauded, sang and even cried. This movie is FABULOUS AND SOOOO MUCH FUN!! Good performances by the ENTIRE cast. Can't wait to see it again. BRAVO!!!!!!

After the movie you will want to buy a ticket to Greece...the scenery in this movie is so beautiful

Make sure you stay to the end of the credits...its a great surprise!

Venus WIlliams by Koto Bolofo...

A new book called "Venus Williams" by photographer Koto Bolofo has been released and features an inspired, conceptual exploration of the six-time Grand Slam champion's life.
The photos are wonderful, and represent Williams from a specific angle. The black and white pictures are classic, graceful, and simply stunning.
Bolofo spoke with the UK's The Times about how he first met his muse on the streets of London four years ago:
"I turned a corner in Covent Garden and there was this tall, beautiful black woman and I thought, ‘I fancy her!’ I’d never seen such a graceful woman. She was wearing a bright fluorescent pink raincoat and stood out like a sore thumb."
Bolofo also said how he was fascinated with Venus while watching her win the first of her four Wimbledon trophies:
"There was such a strength of woman in her. I had never seen anyone like this. She was like a gazelle, so pure. But I wanted to photograph her my way – not as a sports star with lots of muscles, but as a woman."



Bolofo and Williams have worked together on an Italian Vogue shoot which eventually led to working on the book. The two have traveled a lot together, including London, Istanbul, Paris and New York where photos for "Venus Williams" were taken.

Life With My Sister Madonna - Christopher Ciccone....

Last Sunday, I read an advance copy of Christopher Ciccones book "Life With My Sister Madonna" . I found this book to be a great read. Its well written has a great feeling of love and truthfulness. There was nothing really hurtful or scandalous. I think he actually left ALOT out of this book. Should he dare to reveal some of his famous sisters secrets and write this book? I will leave that up to you.

The book is an autobiography of a man who has tried for the past 25 years to get out from under the huge shadow of his famous sister. At her invitation, Christopher decided to take this wild fame ride with his sister and I think at the end of the journey he felt lost, soulless, betrayed and used. One thing is very clear, Christopher deeply loves his sister but is conflicted between his love for her and his need to have his own identity. I believe this conflict led to his issues with drugs and alcohol. In his mind he is looked upon by the world as nothing more than Madonnas brother. For a very creative, talented man in his own right, this has become an unbearable identity. I truly believe this book was originally a way for him to set the record straight, get healthy and move on and hope that they can still be in each others lives. Will that happen?.....your guess is as good as mine.

Heres a direct excerpt from the book which I found very insightful. This is an email Christopher sends Madonna after another one of their disagreements about money(shes cheap!). Madonna once again doesnt want to pay him for helping to decorate one of her homes. with out some kind of controlling requirement. Shes a huge control freak. He basically just received an email telling him not to contact her ever again.......

" you have never in the entire time I have worked for you since 1985 paid me even close to what I was worth...I gave up my fucking life to help you make you the evil queen you are today...15 years listening to your bitching, egotistical rantings, mediocre talent, and lack of taste that would stun the ages...every ounce of talent, you have sucked dry from me and the people around you...I certainly never worked for you for money...now you accuse me of lying and cheating you...you've got some fucking nerve...as usual...you have lost all sense of reality...I guess I always thought that one day you'd see my worth and behave accordingly...but you never did...a little fucking respect was all I ever wanted from you and you couldnt even manage that....dont forget to remove me from your will". C

Union for the Mediterranean - a hope for peace?....

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, French President Nicolas Sarkozy, and Israel's Prime Minister Ehud Olmert join together prior to a meeting at the Elysee Palace in Paris, Sunday July 13, 2008. Sarkozy met the two leaders ahead of a Union for the Mediterranean summit which will bring together leaders of 43 nations in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, some of whom have never before sat around a single table. More than 40 nations home to 800 million people were set Sunday to join in a Union for the Mediterranean, a vast though vague body its boosters hope can nudge this disparate and conflicted swath of the world toward peace and stability.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy urged nations around the Mediterranean to "learn to love one another rather than to continue to hate each other and wage war."

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said: "We are closer than ever to a possible (peace) agreement today" with the Palestinians .
