Last night, I went with my good friend Rafael to see Idina Menzel's first solo concert in NYC at Town Hall. The enthusiastic sold out crowd adored her!! Idina, a New Jersey native, said that performing at the prestigious Town Hall was one of her ultimate professional dreams and that she was overwhelmed with that dream coming true.. Her performance was an excellent showcase of her stunning vocal talent and very endearing personality. BRAVO!!

CLAUDE MONET RECORD SET AT AUCTION....

A Claude Monet painting, Le Bassin Aux Nympheas, has sold for a record $80.5 million dollars (£40.9m) for the artist's work at auction.
The painting by the French impressionist artist was sold to an unidentified woman in the front row of the auction room at Christie's, London.
Painted in 1919 in Giverny, France it has been seen in public just once in the past 80 years!!
Monet's 1873 Le Pont du chemin de fer a Argenteuil, which sold in May, had held the previous record of $55 million dollars.
Experts say the art market remains in a "robust" position.
BBC arts correspondent David Sillito says that buyers from all over the world attended the sale.
The "hammer price" for the painting was $72 million but the overall price rose to over $80million with taxes.
"There's never been such a picture sold at auction in Europe in the last 20 years," Oliver Camu of Christie's said.

BOY GEORGE BANNED FROM US SUMMER TOUR....

DAMN!, I have two tickets to his NYC show !!! .....Boy George was suppose to tour the U.S. this summer and now that's not going to happen. The US government has denied him a visa because of his upcoming criminal trial in London this November. He is on trial for chaining a male prostitute to the wall of his apartment....lol.

George was supposed to start his tour in Aspen, CO on July 10th and finish in Dallas, TX on August 23rd. He was also going to play a special gig for the NY Department of Sanitation for being civil to him while he did his community service there a couple of years ago.

George is not happy about the news , "There are a number of public figures who are openly using drugs and they have no problem with immigration and I have seriously turned my life around and I feel great right now and this is just another reminder of how bad things were. I committed a crime and I happily paid the consequences and I should be allowed to move on and get on with what I do best and that is performing and making people dance and cry!"

Karl Lagerfeld dons a reflective yellow vest for a new French road safety campaign, declaring, "It's yellow, it's ugly, it doesn't match anything, but it can save your life."
According to Bloomberg, "Lagerfeld agreed to pose in the shapeless protective apparel as part of a French government safety-awareness campaign, which was kicked off yesterday. The vest and a reflective triangle will become mandatory for all drivers and cyclists on July 1. The number of traffic deaths in France jumped 10 percent to 346 in May, the highest since the beginning of the year, the Ministry of Environment said on its Web site. Two cyclists have died in Paris since the introduction of free municipal bicycles last year."

Martin, 87, and Lyon, 84, have been together for more than 50 years.

Phyllis Lyon, and Del Martin, were plaintiffs in the California Supreme Court case that led to the legalization of gay marriage. In a written statement filed in the lawsuit, Lyon wrote, 'In the mid-fifties, lesbian and gay couples certainly didn't talk about getting married. People were far too preoccupied with fear of losing their jobs. . . Back then, it seemed as if marriage was wholly unobtainable in our lifetime.'

'Because I am nearly 80 and Del already is in her 80s, we both are rather anxious about what will happen to the other when one of us dies or becomes serious ill,' Phyllis Lyon said in a written statement in the lawsuit successfully challenging California's gay marriage ban.
