In North America, tonight is Eid ul-Fitr or Id-Ul-Fitr (Arabic: عيد الفطر ‘Īdu l-Fiṭr), the Muslim holiday that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting. I live in the South Bronx and I noticed this afternoon, many members of the Muslim community dressed in their finest, beautifully colored traditional clothing. I could tell by the smile on their faces, that its a very special day.
